Mansoum, who passed away in the mid-1990s, was one of the maalems featured on Randy Weston's "Splendid Master Gnawa Musicians" album. Mansoum's son is active as a Gnawa maalem in Marrakech. Another Marrakchi maalem who trained with Mansoum is Abbas Baska.
