Mustapha Bakbou - Editions Hassania

Back in March last year I posted this fantastic cassette of solo guimbri goodness from Maalem Mustapha Bakbou (Baqbou, Bakabou).  If you didn't get it then I suggest you go and get it now.
Well, here we are and it is March again, so here is another 40 something minutes of sublime sounds from this Gnawa master.

There is nothing more I can say, all you can do is listen...

Tracklist:

Side One
Side Two

As usual, I have no track titles or information about this tape other than what is written in English.  Any help with translations is much appreciated!

Get it HERE.

This is an interesting tape! Most of these songs are not part of the Gnawa ritual repertoire. I'll give it a closer listen soon and see what I can make of it. As always, though, Mustapha's guinbri playing is masterful, and the solo setting highlights that nicely. Thanks for this post!

Hi Tim, thanks for dropping in. Just wanted to say I'm really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this one. I'm intrigued as to where the songs may have come from if they are not traditional Gnawa.
Cheers, Marc

Hi Marc.

I'm a recent convert to the North African sound, and couldn't resist your description of this one.

I like it very much - so much so I took your advice & tried to grab the earlier post (Thursday, 22 March 2012) but the link is down.

Any chance of a re-post? (I so hope its not one of those 'lost .zips' you mentioned).

Thank you. Mick from OZ
